چکیده

Hierarchical Control Flow Graph Models deene a modeling paradigm for discrete event simulation modeling based upon hierarchical extensions to Control Flow Graph Models. Conceptually, models consist of a set of encapsulated, concurrently operating model components that interact solely via message passing. The primary objectives of Hierarchical Control Flow Graph Models are: (1) to facilitate model development by making it easier to develop, maintain, and reuse models and model elements, and (2) to support the exible and eecient execution of models. Hierarchical Control Flow Graph Models use two complementary types of hierarchical model speciication structures, one to specify components and their interconnections, and the other to specify component behaviors.

Visual Interactive Modeling in a Java-based Hierarchical Modeling and Simulation System

The desired set of properties of a modern simulation system is presented. The portion of the Hierarchical Modeling And Simulation System-Java (HiMASS-j) used for specifying Hierarchical Control Flow Graph (HCFG) Models is described. The specification of HCFG Models in HiMASS-j is by visual interactive modeling through the use of graphical user interfaces and dialog boxes. HCFG Models are specif...

An Hcfg Model of a Traffic Intersectionspecified Using

The speciication of a simulation model of a complex traac intersection using the Hierarchical Modeling And SimulationSystem-Java (HiMASS-j) is presented. HiMASS-j is an object-oriented Java 1.1 based simulation software system that uses the Hierarchical Control Flow Graph (HCFG) Model paradigm. Models speciied in this paradigm use two complementary hierarchical speciication structures, one to s...

Multi-level models, directed graphs and partial orders in flow control for data secrecy and privacy

We present the view that the method of multi-level access control, often considered confined in the theory of mandatory access control, instead is central in access control methods, in the sense that it is necessary for data secrecy (i.e. confidentiality) and privacy. This is consequence of a result in directed graph theory showing that there is a multi-level structure in any data flow graph. T...

Parsing Behavior: The Hierarchical Nature of Concurrent Systems

Behavioral models are the conceptual models that capture operational principles of real-world or designed systems. A behavioral model defines the state space of a system and the way the system can operate within its state space. A concurrent system allows for several threads of computation to execute simultaneously in the system. Parsing is a technique for discovering the structure of a behavio...

Unveiling Hidden Unstructured Regions in Process Models

Process models define allowed process execution scenarios. The models are usually depicted as directed graphs, with gateway nodes regulating the control flow routing logic and with edges specifying the execution order constraints between tasks. While arbitrarily structured control flow patterns in process models complicate model analysis, they also permit creativity and full expressiveness when...
